Hi, I’m Rakugaki Nay. An illustrator with a specific interest in character design and fanart concept visuals.
DRAGONBALL ORIGINAL CHARACTER DESIGN
Designing original characters has always been something close to my heart. In early 2021, I made a character design of myself in Akira Toriyama’s Dragonball Super Manga Art style.
CHECK OUT MY FANART
I have been a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog and Dragonball ever since I was young. Yuji Uekawa, Akira Toriyama and many other artists have always inspired me to develop my artistic style within conceptual art.
PLUM PUDDING PROJECT
Last year, I illustrated a full colour book cover called ‘Witch for a Week’ with black and white illustrations inside. This was part of the Plum Pudding Competition project and I was awarded the first prize of £100. This was a very fun project to do and I was pleased to be able to incorporate my own ideas.
PUBLIC SPACE PROJECT
Earlier this year, as part of a uni project, I developed a design for a mural that included child-friendly characters made from food. The mural idea was designed to be seen in public places such as restaurants, for younger children to watch and be entertained.
CHINESE DRAGONS PROJECT
As part of my final major project, I developed a concept for a video game where a female warrior named ‘Tokoyo’ challenges six mythical Chinese dragons to save her village and the lives of others.
DAVID BOWIE PROJECT
One of my portfolio studies is the Extraordinary Lives project, so I developed a manga art style of David Bowie based on his interest in Japanese culture and added his name written in Japanese language.
